SEA A BOILING VESSEL CHAPTER 2
06 December 2025 – 31 March 2026

Aazhi Archives returns with Chapter 2 of Sea A Boiling Vessel, a four-month cultural season exploring memory, migration, and the sea as a living archive. Running from 6 December 2025 to 31 March 2026, the event features more than 50 exhibitions, film programmes, lectures, workshops, and community-led initiatives across multiple venues in Fort Kochi and Mattancherry.

Curated by Riyas Komu, co-founder of Aazhi Archives and ideator of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, this chapter of Sea A Boiling Vessel brings together artists, filmmakers, scholars, environmental practitioners, and local communities to explore Kerala’s maritime histories, inland water networks, and evolving contemporary cultures.

AMPHIBIAN AESTHETICS
13 December 2025 – 31 March 2026

Amphibian Aesthetics marks the inaugural exhibition of the Ishara House project at Kashi Hallegua House, Jew Town, Kochi. Designed by the artists and academics of Aazhi Archives, the exhibition anchors a season of programmes and initiatives running from 13 December 2025 to 31 March 2026, with Riyas Komu as Artistic Director.

The exhibition offers an expanded awareness of the world as an interconnected, ever-evolving network of life forms, environments, and shared rhythms. It imagines human, aquatic, terrestrial, and avian ecologies together, foregrounding their frictions, transformations, and interdependent futures.

Featuring new commissions from South Asia, the Gulf, and beyond, Amphibian Aesthetics explores how migration and maritime exchange have shaped societies, power structures, and cultural resistance.

Bringing together artists and collectives working across mediums, the exhibition reflects on the “amphibian” as a way of thinking, one that mediates migration and exile, memory and history, tradition and identity.

Artists: Appupen, CAAS Collective (Dr Susmita Mohanty, Rohini Devasher, Sue Fairburn & Barbara Imhof), Dima Srouji, Kabir Project (Shabnam Virmani, Anisha Baid & Smriti Chanchani), Michelangelo Pistoletto, Midhun Mohan, Rami Farook, Ratheesh T, Shanvin Sixtous, Shilpa Gupta, White Balance, Zahir Mirza.

The Ishara House project is supported by Alserkal Avenue, in association with Galleria Continua.
