Figure, Field & Fact, a retrospective of Shilpi Rajan, celebrates one of Kerala’s most important living sculptors. A self-taught artist from Thrissur, Rajan works instinctively with clay, cement, wood, bamboo, iron, laterite, and more. His works are shaped by humour, endurance, and the scars of lived experience.

Rooted in Kerala’s folk and tribal traditions, his human figures echo local deities, indigenous motifs, and the layered emotions of everyday life. Rajan’s practice stands as a quiet revolt against academic norms, offering forms that shift with mood, memory, and circumstance.
